Toora House Supported Accommodation Program and Family Program

Who is eligible?

Any women who are 16 years and older, with or without accompanying children and families in all their diversity who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Cost

Case management services are free. Rent for our accommodation is set as per Toora’s Housing Factsheet Women in our supported accommodation are eligible for rent assistance from Centrelink.

Referral process

Referrals for our accommodation services are accepted from OneLink 1800 176 468.

Our support services to our clients include:

  • Crisis and transitional shared accommodation
  • Finding safe, new and stable accommodation
  • Budgeting and discussing access to welfare benefits
  • Referrals to health services and other local community services
  • Support with building independent living skills and a community support network
  • Assistance to pursue training, education or employment
  • Assistance to obtain drug and alcohol support and trauma counselling
  • Safety planning and legal advice
  • Liaising with the immigration department to address any immigration issues
  • Advocacy in any other area of identified need

Clients are supported by their own case worker from intake and assessment throughout their individual journey. Toora staff ensure they receive a full wrap around service of supports needed to achieve their goals.

Our case coordinators have been professionally trained and have specialised skills in community services including managing, coordinating and delivering person-centred services to individuals.

In 2018, the ACT Attorney-General declared Toora Women Inc. a Crisis Accommodation Provider.
