Toora’s counselling is delivered by degree qualified counsellors to women who have experienced the impact of their own alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. AOD counselling may also involve addressing related traumas such as:
In line with Toora’s Practice Framework, the counselling service works within a strengths‐based, person-centred framework that is underpinned by trauma-informed care. Our counsellors use a wide range of evidence-based treatment approaches and therapeutic interventions, such as motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy and cognitive behavioural therapies. Together, the client and counsellor explore goals and coping strategies to work through a variety of issues associated with past and present trauma.
Any woman who is over the age of 18 and is impacted by her own AOD use. Women who are already in another Toora AOD program will get priority.
Counselling packages up to 12 weeks are free. Further appointments are negotiable based on the needs of our clients.

The Counselling Service employs experienced, professionally trained and degree qualified counsellors who are registered with an approved Australian counselling body. Counselling sessions are held in Civic, ACT, in a safe, supportive and welcoming setting. We offer flexible appointment times, and outreach visits can be arranged on a case by case basis. Individual counselling sessions are offered in 4, 8 and 12 week packages at 50 minutes per session.

We require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations to ensure you receive your full treatment package. If notice is not given, then the session will be deducted from your agreed number of sessions.
