Case Coordinator, Toora Women Domestic Violence and Homelessness Service

Full-time Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight.
ACT Community Sector MEA Level 5/6 - $88,760 to $101,250 per annum, plus super and salary packaging.

ABOUT TOORA:
Toora Women is a dynamic and compassionate organisation dedicated to providing gender-specific homelessness services to feminine-identifying people in the ACT. Our purpose is to create a safe and supportive environment for women, providing essential services and fostering community connections. At our heart we are a crisis and transitional homelessness provider, but we work across the intersections of domestic violence, corrections, mental health and substance dependency.

ABOUT THIS POSITION:
The Case Coordinator provides direct service delivery and ensures quality outcomes to women, with or without children, who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness. This includes the provision of safe and secure crisis and transitional accommodation and outreach support, and comprehensive case management to address key areas of the client’s health and other needs. The Case Coordinator will assist clients to develop critical analysis of their circumstances and to achieve change in their interpersonal environment and broad social conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND CAPABILITIES:
• Provide crisis, transitional and outreach support to women who are accessing TDVHS within a case management framework, including developing case management plans.
• Plan, coordinate and facilitate women’s groups and projects, including budgeting and allocation of resources, as directed. 
• Demonstrated capacity to work with challenging behaviours and crisis situations.
• Be committed to providing quality programs and excellent services and support that represent leadership and innovation.
• Well-developed communication skills with an ability to adapt communication to suit diverse stakeholders
• Able to build strong relationships and work cooperatively, identifying and overcoming barriers to collaboration.
Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage own emotions even in difficult situations.
• Resilient and adaptable, able to respond to challenges in a positive manner and be flexible to change.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 
• Experience with working with homeless women with high and complex needs, particularly with alcohol and drug dependencies, mental health concerns, sexual assault, domestic violence, incarceration, and women from diverse backgrounds.
• Bachelor level qualification in relevant fields Social Work, Social Science, Health or Psychology and minimum 3 years sector experience; OR
• Diploma in relevant field (eg. Community Services, AOD or Mental Health) and minimum 5 years sector experience.
• Possess a valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration and a satisfactory National Police Check.
• Possess a current driver’s license and be willing to drive.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Marketing and Communications Officer at Toora Women, you will work to raise awareness of our organisation. Your role will involve helping to develop and execute marketing strategies, enhancing our brand presence, and effectively communicating with our stakeholders. You’ll collaborate with a passionate team to drive positive change and amplify our impact.

KEY ACTIVITIES:
• Craft engaging content: create compelling content for our digital platforms, including social media, newsletters, and our website. Your words will inspire, educate, and connect with our audience.
• Brand awareness: Ensure consistent messaging and brand identity across all channels.
• Community engagement: Collaborate with community partners, donors, and volunteers to strengthen relationships and promote our programs.
• Event coordination: Organise events and awareness campaigns to raise visibility and engage our community.
• Media relations: Coordinate media releases, media inquiries, and interviews.
• Data-Driven Insights: Monitor performance metrics, analyze data, and adapt strategies for optimal impact.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
• 3+ years’ experience and tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, fundraising, or related field. 
• A demonstrated ability to produce and deliver engaging and compelling content and launch effective campaigns and events. Strong writing and editing skills across print and online channels, with the ability to adapt writing style, tone and voice for different audiences to achieve impactful storytelling.
• Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, capacity to manage complex projects with excellent attention to detail, as well as the ability to generate new ideas, solve problems and work autonomously on projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
• A demonstrated understanding of the media and political landscape as well as issues encountered by women with high and complex needs, particularly with alcohol and other drug dependencies, homelessness, domestic violence, sexual assault, mental health, incarceration, and women from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Support Worker, Toora Alcohol and Other Drug Service

Part time
$36.62 - $39.40 per hour

PRACTICE FRAMEWORK:
Our current homelessness and drug and alcohol programs range across variety of settings such as crisis and transitional accommodation, day centre and outreach support, allowing Toora to provide a wrap-around trauma informed care model, in an integrated service system. We deliver these complex services within human rights and gendered framework.

All services are based on a theoretical model of recovery, respect and empowerment. This includes encouraging self-help and minimising the effects of institutionalisation and the harm associated with dependencies.

ABOUT THIS POSITION:
• Take responsibility for the day to day practical aspects of service delivery; assist and support the team members in their day to day activities and ensure quality outcomes in direct service delivery to women accessing the Toora AOD programs. The Support Worker will assist service users with their basic needs in the Day Program and supported accommodation settings.
• The Support Worker will ensure that the day to day provision of her support will be delivered within the scope of the service agreement, agreed frameworks and in accordance with the policies and philosophies of the organisation.

KEY CAPABILITIES:
• Experience working with women with complex AOD and co-morbidity, knowledge of various AOD and mental health treatment options
• Capacity to work with challenging behaviours and crisis situations.
• Short term intervention skills.
• Record keeping and data entry skills.
• Relate sensitively with women of diverse cultural, social, economic backgrounds in providing assistance/support to service users in an effective and efficient manner.
• Well-developed communication and teamwork skills.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office
• Diploma in AOD Community Work and 1 year experience in community sector
• Current driver's license.

JOB SPECIFICATION:
1. Reporting/Working Relationship
• The Support Worker is ultimately responsible to the Executive Director of Toora Women Inc. On a day to day basis the Support Worker is responsible to the Service Manager.

2. Conditions of employment
• The duties of this position may be adapted to changing organisational requirements as determined by the service planning processes. Any change to the job description will not occur without consultation.
• Out of hours work may be required.
• Must possess a current driver’s licence and be willing to drive.
• Must possess a Working with Vulnerable People registration
• Required to work from any location, within integrated Toora Inc. service system.
• Work collaboratively within Toora Women Inc. service system.
• Must adhere to the policies and procedures of the organisation.

3. Statement of Key Activities:
• Undertake basic assessment of safety and risk.
• Follow up on some aspects of case management plans with women as directed by senior staff
• Provide support to address areas of women’s needs as directed by senior staff (eg. drive to appointments, assist with medication).
• Provide information to women.
• Assist workers with groups and projects as required.
• Facilitate access for clients to other community or mainstream services as required.
• Attend staff and support plan meetings and other designated meetings as required.
• Engage in other activities related to service delivery, as required.

After hours Women's Crisis Support Worker (Caretaker)

Permanent Part time, After hours, on-call position
$41.52 per hour plus penalty rates as per MEA
Week day evenings 5-9 pm in person, weekday evenings 9pm-9am and 24 hours over weekends available for calls and able to drive to site as required
Work one week in every 3 week rotating roster.

Toora Women is a dynamic and compassionate organisation dedicated to providing gender-specific homelessness services to feminine-identifying people in the ACT. Our purpose is to create a safe and supportive environment for women, providing essential services and fostering community connections. At our heart we are a crisis and transitional homelessness provider, but we work across the intersections of domestic violence, corrections, mental health and substance dependency.

Our current domestic violence, homelessness and AOD health treatment programs range across a variety of settings, such as, crisis, transitional and head tenancy accommodation, day programs, counselling and outreach support. This allows Toora to provide wrap-around trauma-informed care within an integrated service system. We deliver these complex services within a human rights and gendered framework.

ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Caretaker works one week in three as part of a rotating roster, and includes evening and overnight support requirements. The Caretaker provides out of hours crisis support and intervention to Toora Women clients residing in our 12 shared residential properties, via phone or attendance at residence as required. Our Caretakers also provide support for client services whilst they are on shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Respond to emergency contacts from Toora clients and undertake emergency assessments including safety and risk.
• Provide crisis intervention, practical and emotional support to clients, by phone or by attending the Toora residence as deemed necessary.
• Encourage women to self-manage crisis, in the first instance.
• Develop and maintain facility knowledge of Toora Women Inc. residences.
• Be available to respond immediately to any phone call, by keeping a designated mobile phone charged and in close vicinity.
• Restrict whereabouts and be able to attend any work site within 30 minutes of call out.
• Always ensure zero blood alcohol level during shifts.
• Provide handover to relevant case manager at end of each shift.
